Jalia Payne is a passionate music educator, composer, and performer dedicated to helping students discover their unique voice through music. Originally from Ruston, Louisiana, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Industries Studies from Louisiana Tech University and a Master of Music in Composition from Louisiana State University.
Jalia serves as the Marketing Director at Rockin Mozart Music School, where she leads creative initiatives, develops engaging content, and helps share the school’s mission of changing lives through music with the community. Through her work, she combines her background in music and media to connect with students and families across all locations.
In addition to her role in marketing, Jalia teaches students of all ages in piano, voice, flute, and songwriting. Her teaching style focuses on building strong musical foundations while encouraging creativity, confidence, and self-expression. She believes that every student can succeed in music when given the right tools and support.
As a composer, Jalia creates music that explores themes of nature, storytelling, and emotional expression. Her works have been performed in academic and community settings, reflecting her commitment to meaningful and expressive artistry.
At Rockin Mozart Music School, Jalia is proud to be part of a team dedicated to creating a positive, engaging learning environment where students not only grow as musicians but also develop discipline, creativity, and a lifelong love for the arts.

Allyson Alexander is one of our senior instructors and an accounting specialist. She began studying music at a very young age. In the fourth grade, she started on the recorder as her first wind instrument and the drums as her first percussion instrument. From there, she advanced to the piano and clarinet. She is an alumnus of Rockin Mozart. Throughout middle school and high school, she played in the Math, Science, and Arts Academy's orchestra as the First Chair Clarinet. She has competed in many music festivals across the nation. Her musical journey became her first job when she began teaching at Rockin Mozart.
She guides young minds in clarinet, piano, and vocal performance.

Ms. Laurie holds a Master of Science in Accounting from Louisiana State University, earned in December 2000. Prior to that, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting in December 1999, graduating magna cum laude. Laurie then embarked on and completed a 20-year career as a sponsored research accounting manager at LSU. This involved financial oversight and reimbursement for thousands of grants, contracts, and sponsored agreements encompassing millions of dollars of funded research. As part of these responsibilities, Laurie obtained certification as a Certified Research Administrator (CRA) in 2008. She is also a local graduate of Plaquemine High School, where she was the salutatorian graduate in 1996.
As a young lady, Laurie was partially self-taught and partially taught by her mother to play piano. As she began her accounting career, her love of music never ceased. She enrolled as an adult piano student at Rockin Mozart in 2013. Upon her early retirement from LSU, Rockin Mozart's Founder and CEO Dr. Michael Berthelot, hired her as a Piano Instructor. Laurie now serves as one of Rockin Mozart's Senior Instructors at the Plaquemine location.

Maria Ortega is one of our instructors here at Rockin Mozart. She is a cellist with strong experience in orchestral work, and teaching experience in Venezuela, Chile, and the United States. She had her beginnings in music back in her home country of Venezuela, in the well-known program El Sistema. She obtained a Bachelor's degree in modern languages (English and French), and in 2016 she moved to Northern Chile to play in orchestras and teach young artists. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in cello performance at LSU. Maria has also played in various orchestras such as LSU Symphony, Acadiana Symphony, and Rapides Symphony Orchesra. She also has participated in Opera in the Ozarks in Arkansas state. As a soloist, Maria has performed in: Dispotraining (Iquique 2016), Chamber Music Festival (Iquique 2017-2018), Teach to Teach Masterclasses (Villarrica 2018-2019), Antofagasta International Music Festival (2020), and Collaborate String Institute (Baton Rouge 2023). She has learned under prestigious international professors such as Ingrid Zur (Argentina-Germany), Jorg Heyer (Germany), Heidi Litschauer (Austria), Rodrigo Pozo (Chile), Emmanuele Baldini (Italy), Alvaro Bitran (Chile-Mexico), Dennis Parker (USA), and Rita Sloan (USA).

A proud 2022 graduate of Iberville Math, Science, and Arts Academy West, she demonstrated her leadership skills as President of the MSA Orchestra during her senior year, in addition to excelling as the first chair clarinetist.
In 2022, Ms. Anne had the incredible opportunity to travel to Chicago with the MSA Orchestra, where the ensemble received numerous accolades for their outstanding performances. Her passion for music began at the age of 8 when she started her journey as a piano student with Rockin Mozart. The enriching experiences at Rockin Mozart have not only deepened her love for music but have also ignited her aspiration to inspire the next generation of learners through teaching.
Currently, Ms. Anne is available to share her expertise in both piano and clarinet, fostering a love for music in her students just as she experienced in her own musical journey.

A distinguished performer, Linward has graced the stage of Carnegie Hall, showcasing his exceptional talent and artistry. Currently, he serves as the master violinist in the MSA West Orchestra, where he continues to refine his craft and collaborate with fellow musicians.
